Dorateymur – London Fashion Week – AW17

Through the thought of contemporary nostalgia and the tales of Suburbia, Dorateymur made a distinguishable aesthetic announcement of her Autumn/Winter footwear presentation. Through the tales of melancholy living and traditional bourgeoisie, Dorateymur presented a collection that made use of the suburban icons of a distant life – the china elephant on the mantel, the pointed toe, sling back and backless mule style, the tales of the suburban housewife but twisted and tangled into modern life. In tones of silver, gold, Indian red, white and black as well as the new introductions of pistachio green, fuchsia, cobalt blue and tobacco, onlookers were transported into a storyline of Carolyn, our contemporary housewife, and the footwear she would assume to her nostalgic identity – however, it was clear to see that although we were witness to a design aesthetic of the past, it was a design aesthetic that could also fit with the modern day city woman. The traditional footwear shape was morphed into something unique, a far cry from contemporary fashion ideals yet a perfect companion for the contemporary individual. Dorateymur offered a collection that paid homage to a past fashion yet placed herself as designer of a unique aesthetical twist.
