A reflection of great heritage and sense of gothic romanticism frames the lavish nature of Joanne Hynes’ latest SS18 collection.  The designer plunges straight into over-indulgent and extremely nostalgic emotions. An intimate sitting of afternoon tea was served upon fine navy satin, whilst a single violinist accompanied the presentation with a very elegant selection.

The constitution of each piece in Hynes collection embodied distinctive characteristics. Together every item played a significant role in building bold silhouettes. The extensive embellishments to each individual garment pays homage to the loss of pure craftsmanship. Hynes believes fashion has become less elegant and formal since the turn of the century. Her divergent approach to a romanticism print was an another eye-catching focal point in the collection.  A dark toned colour palate was confronted by striking and impulsive graphic blocks of bright pinks and electric blues. Effortlessly combined with soft satins, velvets and lace to provide a pure indulgence. Hynes sensual addition of traditional Jacquard knits and striking carpet bags were well matched alongside a collection of desirable vintage jewels worn by each model. The boundless application of jewels was far from disruptive, it seemed the more she added the clearer the history of the garments became. The ‘Hynes woman’ is certainly one that holds a strong sophisticated identity.
