Roberto Einer’s Spring Summer 2018 collection allowed us to escape rainy London for just a moment as we quickly found ourselves stood amongst palm trees with cocktails and ice cream sandwiches. Lana Del Rey began to sound from the speakers as the models came to life in an 80’s skate scene California Dream. Einer show cased her collection with colourful and bold palazzo pants, flowing beaded dresses and even her signature bomber jacket. The piece was re-invented for the beach life with palm tree motifs to make it wearable even for the summer time. The colour palette and playful prints made for the perfect feminine but daring collection. Einer teamed up with Vans, who make the perfect California lifestyle shoe. Models oozed L.A “cool” sporting the customised, beaded skate shoes paired with crochet crop tops and fun miniskirts. Einer created prints inspired by Raymond Pettibon and Jean-Michel Basquiat and used sequins to embroider over them making texture the most prominent part of the collection. Also featured were stencilled slogans on pink sequin wide leg trousers reading “Never had a dream come true” and graffiti style prints on oversized t-shirts. These were perfectly in keeping with the aesthetic of the collection and made it all the more approachable and easy-to-wear.
