It was purple rain for Sibling AW16. The bundle of creativity that are Sibling produced another show stopping a collection with this time round being inspired by the incredible Grace Jones. Titled ‘Daytime Disco’ the collection saw an array of tinsel, sequins and knitwear merge to produce the perfect 80’s inspired collection.
With their quirky eye for design, it is known that design duo Cozette McCreery and Sid Bryan never fail to bring that extra layer of kitsch and tongue in cheek fun to their shows, this season was no different. Looks ranged from a sparkly body suit in a star print combined with knitted shawls and paired with leopard print socks and stiletto sandals, a knitted black and purple midi dress paired with a floor length purple knitted cape with tinsel hems and a black and yellow oversized jumper layered over a sheer black lace dress with a thigh high split on the side. Body suits also came in sheer lace form. The looks were made party and the Brewer Street Car Park was its venue.
With Grace Jones’ ‘Portfolio’ album in reference, stand out party pieces were in full swing. These came in the form of huge tinsel chokers paired with sheer lace camis and knitted midi skirts tied at the waist; the details were down to the sequined star shaped nipple tassels underneath. Another stand out piece was a jumper with an oversized tinsel hood; that we don’t quite know how the model balanced; this said piece had an extremely low cut and was paired with a sparkly skirt with sequined hem. Looks were completed with leopard print socks and tinsel heeled sandals, models also wore oversized headphones on some looks.
