Dorateymur presented their new 2018 collection ‘Easy Listening’ at Unit 9 Gallery, presenting a tranquil and futuristic setting – a utopian approach to a morning routine featuring classic house slippers, 80s groupie platform shoes and 17th century mens boots. Dorateymur craftily projected 3D moving footage on a plasma screen depicting mediation and calm. The presentation formed of two rooms, saw the second room interpreted as a social afternoon by a modernist indoor pond filled with red suede loafers and burgundy mules.
Featuring a model who merges the characters of Basquiats widow, Suzanne Mallouk and Mrs. Mica Ertegun into one embodiment, displayed an intimate glimpse into perhaps a serene, private and domesticated life that she may be currently living. Surrounded by the pond dressed with plastic bottles and coke cans, connoted a fashion art scene and muse for the Easy Listening Collection. The juxtaposition of Dorateymur’s red shoe collection and the dark surroundings represented the tension between the subjects with the red signifying passion, while the black signifying logic – together the two colour palettes blending together; feeling strong and powerful. A reformed shoe collection emphasising on Dorateymur’s signature style and refined interpretation.
