Edda Gimnes channelled an elegant femininity this season with a well defined silhouette. Reminiscent of the 1950’s ‘new look’, the small waist lines and full skirts dominated many of the Norwegian designers looks this collection.

The designer preserved her brands signature by incorporating her pencil sketching details and mark making in her prints once again. Tones of olive, mustards, baby pink and blue teal added hints of lighthearted playful energy to the garments as the models danced freely throughout the presentation. Each look incorporated a distinctive Edda touch, a very desirable ‘sketched’ thigh high boot with a gold stiletto heel. The metallic gold complimented the mustard hues well throughout. The young designer has always toyed with the importance of surface decoration in her work. This season was no different. The addition of highly embellished inserts on garments was mimicked by an illustrated jewel print in others.  The collection also welcomed the addition of exciting textures, from canvases typically used by the designer, to a depth in the layering of cotton mesh and crepe. Two looks were styled with light lengths of yolk yellow and pink ostrich feathers. Gimnes combined resort wear with the glamorous 50s silhouette and her unique signature to create an innovative and quirky look for her brand.
