Insurgent encapsulates a driving force rising up and breaking through the constraints of societal norms, and at 5’4, our cover star Anja Konstantinova is constantly defying typical expectations of a model. After being scouted in Australia five years ago, she has continuously been pushing the limitations typically placed on models. Anja has accomplished things that not many could rival. Despite her height, Anja has recently ventured into the world of runway, “I was lucky enough to do Paris Fashion week this year – I opened and closed a show, which was really exciting”. In addition to this she has also walked in a few fashion shows in Australia, “I am very small, but it’s been great to push boundaries”.
The harsh exterior of the shoot contrasted completely with Anja’s gentle nature, however, she was able to impressively transform and harness the essence of this editorial. Anja describes how creative modelling can be, and elaborates on how one of her favourite aspects of her job is the unpredictability it can bring, “It’s exciting”, she explains, “I never ask my agent what the job will be. It’s almost like acting, you get into character and pretend to be someone else and then you take the makeup off and I’m Anja again”.
