Lantern Sense AW16 Show

Inspired by the work of Mark Rothko and 90s grunge Lantern Sense’s first collection at London Fashion Week was the definition of cool. The models boldly paraded down the catwalk to the sound of the prodigy’s ‘smack my bitch up’.

The collection played with different materials and textures. Accessories were key. Boxy tailored separates in the form of jumpers and jackets were paired with trousers, pleated skirts, midi dresses and mini sequin ensembles. Faux fur made an appearance as the fabric choice of jumpers, collars and the lining of pockets. Faux moss arm warmers and shrugs were layered and draped over garments. Mesh and ruching added texture as did the use of shredded fabrics. Safety pins added further detailing, connecting different fabrics and showcasing that 90’s grunge inspo.

An autumnal palette was used; blush pinks, nudes, beige, greens and brown were partnered with darker tones; burgundy, black and grey. Floral earmuffs and hats were used alongside statement chokers and hair and septum rings. Knee highs, sunglasses, and rucksacks were fun additions and emphasised the wearability of the collection. The Models rocked buns and braids, their lips were painted dark and brows were strong and defined.

What a fun, ready to wear take on 90’s Grunge. How could you not love Lantern Sense’s AW16 Collection.
