Tucked away in the streets of Soho, we found ourselves in the Elms Lester Painting rooms for Miuniku AW16 presentation. ‘The explorer’ was created by designer duo, sisters Tina and Nikita. The space lent itself to the sister’s artistic vision. The presentation allowed me to explore the collection in my own way, wandering through the streams of colourful materials that divided the models, engaging with the swaying outerwear and jumpers suspended from above. The setting truly catered for and complemented the movement of the very exciting collection.
‘The explorer’ was a beautiful construction of boxy jumpers, layering and beautiful colour block outerwear partnered with floaty flared trouser legs, and long A-line skirts.
The collection played with clean and simplistic lines, something the duo do very well. They used natural, earth like tones; brown and forest green and paired that with pastels; soft blue, yellow, lilac and mint. Quirky cut outs, panelling, curved hems, fastenings and diagonal detailing all created texture and depth to their impeccable designs. The collection saw a focus on collars, buttons, zips and oversized pockets, and I had some serious sleeve envy; with their perfect layered and pleat combo.
The Models sported an effortless side parting sweep, their makeup soft, faces rosy. The Collection really celebrated colour, movement and a real expression of art. Miuniku AW16 showcased the mixing of “minimal and maximal elements” to the highest of standards.
