The Holborn St Andrew church was the gothic setting for the Central Saint Martin graduate Dilara Findikoglu’s Spring/ Summer 2018 show. The imposing delinquent display obscuring the Alter made entering the place of worship seems like an act of heresy, leaving your beliefs at the door, as the models transform the empty space marked by disfigured benches and select guests, into a runway. Of course, the choice of venue was both deliberate and fitting, as appearing from behind the display were the Believers to begin the show, succeeded then by the Rebels, Thinkers and Politicians, to name a few of the unapologetically controversial characters adorned in Findikoglu’s garments. The splashes of red, black and white echo the satanic nature of the show, making for an alluring performance, as the niche models corrupted common belief and empowered the ‘other’.
