Eudon Choi – London Fashion Week – AW18

Through his Autumn/ Winter collection, Eudon Choi pays homage to St Ives as a muse to artists such as Christopher Wood, Nicholson Took and Alfred Wallis. Through the masculine inspired silhouettes, military detailing and busts of colour, Choi translates the relationship between these artists and their rugged environment to create a collection that celebrates abstract art and Cornish traditionalism. In particular, the symmetrical cuts, vinyl trench coats, oversized scarves and drawstring details are reminiscent of the Cornish fishermen who worked on the harsh seas. Whilst the show began dominated by neutral, muted tones, it closed with flashes of vivid colours, including red and pink power dressing, making the show an honest insight and celebration of the timeless and non-metropolitan culture that inspired the collection.
