Lunyee’s SS18 collection delved into the notion of a growing desire to have first-hand contact with nature as the world increasingly lives through screens. This inspired Lunyee to design an innovative collection of both men’s and women’s wear that concentrates on abstract cuts, oversized proportions, and asymmetry. Models emerged looking youthful with wet hair and oversized clear glasses, sporting dresses cut in soft textures, in contemporary shapes that had been dissected and reassembled using metal hardware rings, zips and oversized straps to exaggerate the individual shape of each piece. Colours were muted blues, green, white and black with an accent of burnt orange. Velvet red trousers and accessories juxtaposed the colour palette, perfectly paired with a voluminous crisp white deconstructed shirt. Branded accessories such as chokers, oversized earrings and red clunky belts, also featured. Men walked fast paced in military style black lace up boots, pin stripes and some wearing hoods like a sign of rebellion choosing to stand up against the idea that we live through our screens – they actively want to tap into the wider aspect of our surroundings. Lunyee make a point of transcending relevant issues into the clothing they produce, inspiring change, and encouraging us to have a new outlook on how we absorb contemporary culture.
